How it works
You can set Nengy up yourself in about ten minutes. No developer needed.
For your business: website chat
- Create a free account at app.nengytalks.com/signup.
- Open “Your business” from the menu (☰) in the app, type your business name, and press Add business.
- Add your information. Type or paste your prices, opening hours, delivery areas, policies and FAQs, upload PDF or Word files, or give the address of a page on your website. Nengy answers from this information only.
- Try it. Ask a question the way a customer would, for example “Do you deliver to Ikeja?”, and check the answer. Add more information if anything is missing.
- Choose the look. Set the chat's colour, welcome message and the contact details Nengy gives when a customer needs a person.
- Put it on your website. Press Copy to copy one line of code, and paste it into your website:
- WordPress: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer, or a plugin such as “Insert Headers and Footers”, before
</body>. - Wix: Settings → Custom code → Add custom code → “Body - end”, on all pages.
- Shopify: Online Store → Themes → Edit code →
theme.liquid, just before</body>. - Any other website: before
</body>on each page, or in the shared footer.
- WordPress: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer, or a plugin such as “Insert Headers and Footers”, before
WhatsApp needs a WhatsApp Business number approved by Meta, so we set it up with you. Press Book a WhatsApp setup on your business page, or book it here. Once it's connected, customers message your number and Nengy replies, with voice notes for voice notes.
Phone calls
Nengy answers your phone number in her voice, from the same information, and passes callers to your own number when they ask for a person. Two ways to get a number:
Use your own Twilio account (about 10 minutes):
- Get a Twilio number. Create an account at twilio.com and buy a number with voice (Phone Numbers → Buy a number). The free trial works for testing, but only numbers you've verified with Twilio can call it, and callers hear a short trial message first.
- Connect it. On your business page, under Phone calls, paste your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token (Twilio Console → Account info) and press Find my numbers. Choose the number, add your own number for transfers, and press Connect phone number. NengyTalks sets the number up in Twilio for you.
- Call it. Nengy answers. Each call's words (and recording, if you turn recording on) appear under Recent calls.
Or get a number from us: on your business page choose Get a number from NengyTalks and ask for one; we set it up and add its cost to your plan.
Keep your existing number: set call forwarding on your line to the Nengy number (your network's call forwarding settings, or your phone's Settings → Call forwarding). Your customers keep calling the number they know.
Costs: with your own Twilio account, Twilio bills you directly for the number and call minutes. NengyTalks counts the minutes Nengy answers against your plan.
WhatsApp, by yourself
When it's switched on for your account, the Connect WhatsApp button on your business page opens Meta's window: choose or create your WhatsApp Business account, add your number and confirm it with the code Meta sends. Until then, press Book a WhatsApp setup and we connect it with you.
